LAHAUL-SPITI HIMALAYAN SAFARI


It's 9 day safari to one of the remotest regions of Himachal Pradesh - Lahaul and Spiti valley. You will get to visit remote valleys, villages and high mountain passes with spectacular views of snow capped peaks, rugged terrain and old monasteries.

REGION COVERED: Manali, Rohtang Pass, Kunzam Pass, Ki, Kibber, Dhankar, Tabo, Chandertal, Keylong, Khardong and Udaipur

SEASON: Mid June to September

MAX. ALTITUDE: 4558m

NUMBER OF DAYS: 9 days

Day 01: Arrive in Manali.

Day 02: Manali - Chatru (65m)
Duration: 6 hours

Drive over Rohtang Pass into Lahaul valley. The road branches towards Chandertal and Spiti at Gramphoo. The campsite at Chatru is on the banks of the river Chandra. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing.

Day 03: Chatru - Kaza (130 km)
Duration: 6 hours

Travel to Kaza over Kunzam la (4558m). On arrival, set up camp.

Day 04: Kaza
Visit the Ki monastery and Kibber village. In the afternoon, travel to Tashigong village to see the Chao Chao Kang Nilda peak.

Day 05: Kaza - Dhankar - Tabo - Ki - Kaza
Duration: 4 hours

Visit the Dhankar and Tabo monasteries. Tabo monastery is more than a thousand years old and is famous for its wall paintings and murals. It is also known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas. Return back to Kaza in the evening.

Day 06: Kaza - Chandertal (116km)
Duration: 5 hours

Spend the afternoon exploring the lake. Overnight at Chandertal

Day 07: Chandertal - Keylong (100 km)
Duration: 4 hours

Travel to Keylong, en route passing several villages in the Lahaul valley. On arrival, set up camp near Keylong. In the afternoon, hike up to the Khardong village and monastery.

Day 08: Keylong - Udaipur (50 km)
Duration: 4 hours

Udaipur is located in the Pattan valley, a beautiful side valley in Lahaul. On arrival, set up camp. In the afternoon, explore the Udaipur village and visit Mrikula Devi temple.

Day 09: Udaipur - Manali (151 km)
Duration: 7 hours

Return to Manali over Rohtang Pass (3980m). On arrival, check in to the hotel.
