DEO TIBBA BASE AND CHOTA CHANDERTAL TREK

 

Starting from the Prini road head, this scenic, summer high altitude trek winds its way through lush green meadows and alpine forests. With memorable views of snow-capped peaks, including Indrasan, Inderkilla, Deo-Tibba and Hampta Pass, this is one of the most scenic treks in Himachal Pradesh. Mountain streams, glaciers, log bridges… all go into making this a trek worth experiencing. Look out for the amazing valley view from Piyangniru. It would be any photographer's delight to capture.

SEASON: Mid May - October

MAX. ALTITUDE: 3600m

NUMBER OF DAYS: 8 days

TREK GRADIENT: Moderately challenging

Day 01: The participants arrive in Manali.

Day 02: Manali - Jagatsukh - Khanol (2600m)
Duration: 6 hours

You will first get to Jagatsukh after a short drive from where the trek starts. The trail ascends gradually through thick pine forests along the narrow Allain Nullah valley. Lookout for plenty of wildlife along the way.

Day 03: Khanol - Chikha(3200m)
Duration: 4 hours

Today's trail is again all uphill but mostly through birch forests. The campsite at Chikha is almost at treeline giving you some fabulous views.

Day 04: Chikha - Seri (3600m)
Duration: 4 hours

The first part of the trail winds through birch forests before opening on to the huge meadow at Seri. The camp at the opposite end of the meadow is about an hour's walk away.

Day 05: Seri - Tainta (3900m)
Duration: 4 hours

The initial part of the trek is all flat and easy walking till you come to a stream. After crossing the stream the trails is uphill through boulders till you come to the camp which is on a morraine.

Day 06: Tainta - Chota Chandertal (4200m) - Tainta
Duration: 6 hours

The path is all through morraine with some uphill stretches. The closed valley doesn't offer views of the valley but Deo Tibba stays with you all along. Chota Chandertal a beautiful small mountail lake in a depression. Return to the camp at Tainta.

Day 07: Tainta - Chikha
Duration: 4 hours

Return on the same route that you took on the way up, passing the campsite at Seri.

Day 08: Chikha - Jagatsukh - Manali
Duration: 4 hours

Trace the route back to Jagatsukh from where a vehicle will pick you up and drop you back to Manali.
