KINNAUR KAILASH CIRCIUT
This wonderful trek in Kinnaur completes the circiut around the revered Kinnaur Kailash mountain. Kinnaur was forbidden to trekkers till a few years ago, consequently these trails have been less used. The Kinnaur Kailash Range borders the district of Kinnaur in the south and is dominated by the Kinnaur Kailash (6349m) and Jonkarden (6473m) peaks. The only pass on this trek is the Charang La at an altitude of 5300m.

NUMBER OF DAYS: 7 days
TREK GRADIENT: Moderately challenging
Day 01: Arrival un Shimla
Day 02: Shimla - Sangla - Thangi
Duration: 5 hours
A long drive to Thangi (2760m) via the district headquarters at Recong Peo.
Day 03: Thangi - Lambar
Duration: 4 hours
Trek through some beautiful alpine scenery to Lambar (2890m). Parts of the trail pass through a grand gorge.
Day 04: Lambar - Charang
Duration: 6 hours
The ascent continues to the substantially large village at Charang (3500m), which is named after the pass nearby.
Day 05: Charang - Lalanti
Duration: 4 hours
The trail continues up till the campsite at Lalanti, at the base of Charang La. The pastures around Lalanti (4420m) are visited by sheperds in the summer months.
Day 06: Lalanti - Charang La - Chitkul
Duration: 8 hours
The trail to the pass is demanding but spectacular views from the top of the pass are assured. The descent from the top is quite steep but the warm camp in Chitkul await.
Day 07: Chitkul - Shimla
Duration: 9 hours
Drive back to Shimla by road.
