Nubra valley

The Nubra valley is the situated north of Leh and has spectacular landscape that you will get nowhere else. The floor of the valley is a desert, complete with sand dunes and the double-humped Bactrian camels while it’s surrounded by 6000+ meter peaks of the Karakoram range. We enter the valley via Lasermo La 5400m. The pass itself offers amazing views of the Indus and Shyok valleys. Historically Nubra valley was an important stopover fir traders on the Silk Route and it formed an important cross road between India and Central Asia.

Day 01: Participants arrive in Leh.

Day 02: Leh – Phyang – Phyang Phu
Duration: 4 hours

Drive from Leh to the ancient monastery at Phyang. From there it’s a short walk to Phyang Phu.

Day 03: Phyang Phu – South base of Lasermo La (4700m)
Duration: 4 hours

The trail climbs gradually to the base of Lasermo La. Look out for rare sightings of high altitude wildlife on the way.

Day 04: South base of Lasermo – North base via Lasermo La (5400m)
Duration: 7 hours

An early start is reccomended on the day you will cross the Lasermo La. On the other side of the pass is a descent through glacier and morraine. The camp is in a meadow after the glacier.

Day 05: North base – Hundar Dok
Duration: 5 hours

Today’s is an easy walk through meadows along the Hunder stream till you come to the village of Dok Gongma or Hunder Dok.

Day 06: Hunder Dok – Skarchen
Duration: 5 hours

Today’s is a relatively short trek that takes you past more Nubra valley villages Dok Gongma, Dok Yongma and Wachan before you arrive at the campsite.

Day 07: Skarchen- Hunder
Duration: 4 hours

The last day of the trek is through a gorge before it dramatically opens up to the main Shayok valley. The trail then descends to Hunder village where the trek ends.

Day 08: Hunder to Leh
Duration: 8 hours

We Drive back from Hunder to Leh.
