Deo Tibba Ski Touring Overview
Set back in the Manali valley, Deo Tibba is a popular peak among climbers who have some mountaineering knowledge. The ski descent is great for intermediate-advanced ski mountaineers. The approach to the mountain is through the ancient village of Jagatsukh and the nearest town is Manali. Deo Tibba is a technical peak that can be graded PD on the Alpine grading scale with some protection needed on 3 portions of the mountain on the way up. It's accessibility makes for a great spring ski touring objective.

Deo Tibba Ski Touring Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Manali
Arrive in Manali in the morning and check into your hotel. Gear check and prepare for the climb ahead. Hotel stay and meals not included in the cost.
Day 02: Manali - Chikka (3500m)
Duration: 3 hours
We start our drive from Manali to Jagatsukh village and proceed onward on the Duhangan hydroelectric project road. From the road-head, it's a gradual climb through the forest to reach the open pastures at Chikka which have a temple and a few huts. We trek along the Duhangan Nala today and camp on its banks.
Day 03: Chikka - Seri (3800m)
Duration: 4 hours
The day starts with a moderate ascent through a mixed forest that we quickly leave behind. We trek through the treeline to reach the alpine meadows at Seri. The flatlands at Seri are a summer pasture for the animals in the valley villages. We camp right next to the Tenta cliffs with multiple waterfalls crashing to the rocks below.
Day 04: Seri Exploration
We leave Seri for a day of exploration and ski touring in the surrounding area. The specific site for the day will depend on the snow cover and conditions.
Day 05: Seri - Chota Chandratal (4480m) - Seri
Duration: 4 hours
Make our way today to Chota Chandratal a small glacial lake flanked by taller mountains. We can see Duhangan Col easily from here. Ski down to Tenta.
Day 06: Seri - Base Camp (4000m)
Duration: 3 hours
Today we make our way up the Tenta cliffs, on the same route as the previous day. We set up our Base Camp in Tenta, short of the lake. From here we can see the route we take to reach camp 1 through the Duhangan gully.
Day 07 - Day 11: Climbing and Skiing
We use these days to make our way up the mountain. The climb is graded PD and has two gullies we need to negotiate and one exposed climb to the summit ridge. The Duhangan gully takes us to the plateau above the Duhangan Col where we set up Camp 1 and another shorter gully takes us to the Piton Ridge at the base of which a Camp 2 can be established. We go for the summit after Camp 2 and reach a saddle point from which one can access Indrasan peak. From the saddle, we start the last push to the summit and ski down to Base Camp.
Day 12: Base Camp.
Rest and clean up at the Base Camp or at Seri.
