Introductory Adventure Program Overview
The Introductory Adventure Program is designed for students, 13 - 16 years old with limited outdoors exposure. The Program objective is to introduce participants to an intentionally basic lifestyle, adventure activities and making them comfortable with being outside their comfort zone.
Our 6-day program is run in and around Manali town in the Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh. The course is run from a picturesque campsite, surrounded by apple orchards away from the bustle of town.
During the program, you will be introduced to trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, river crossing, and rafting. The program is by no means exhaustive. It is meant to introduce students to the outdoors and inculcate a healthy respect for nature and their surroundings. The course should be thought of as a launchpad for appreciating the world that we live in and being comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Introductory Adventure Program Objectives
- Build skill: During the course of the program students learn and practice wilderness skills, teamwork and leadership skills.
- Form new connections: The unfamiliar surroundings and activities facilitate the formation of new and deeper connections with classmates based on support and respect and having fun together!
- Strengthen values: Being outside a familiar landscape helps uncover unique character strengths, develop leadership abilities and learn how to let compassion into everyday life by pushing limits and working alongside one's peers.
- Learn Teamwork: As one gains confidence in new skills, take on more decision-making responsibilities. Work together to achieve team goals, solve problems and succeed both as individuals and as a group.
- Build Confidence: For students, heading away from home means taking on new responsibilities and expectations. Being away from home helps in developing a sense of self, based on lived realities.
- Develop respect towards Nature: Respect towards others and the environment is an integral part of the course. Students are instructed in and experience first hand Leave No Trace ethics and the impacts of their actions.
- Impact on life after the program: After the students return home many of the character, leadership and service traits they uncovered during the program stay with them, helping them navigate daily life with more resilience and success. Students value service, see the impact of their actions and transfer their appreciation of the outdoors to their communities at home.
Day 1: Arrive in Manali by morning and transfer to Camp14000ft. Local sightseeing in the evening.
Day 2: Trek to Khaniyal Village and back by afternoon. Evening free to explore around camp. You can choose to do Tyrollean traverse and zip line at the camp.
Day 3: Rock Climbing, Rappelling and river crossing.
Day 4: Visit to the Snow point and return to camp by the evening.
Day 5: Rafting on the Beas and return to Camp.
Day 6: Depart from Manali after lunch.
- Accommodation in tents

- Transport Manali bus stop to Campsite and back.
- Any expenses of personal nature - phone calls, laundry etc.

- Any activities like Paragliding, Zorbing, horse riding, Rafting etc at snow point or otherwise
- Backpack / rucksack (70 lts)- This will go on Horses until BC
- Backpack small ( 20 - 30 Ltrs) - This is what you can use everyday for the hike and to go to the training area.
- Warm hiking pants and shirts/ t shirts / sweat shirt.
- T-shirt Wicking Layer.
- Good hiking shoes.
- Head light with extra batteries.
- Suntan lotion and toiletries.
- Insulated Water bottle/ 750 ml flask.
- Warm fleece jacket.
- Windproof shell jacket and pants.
- Down jacket.
- Warm gloves thin to work in the ice.
- Warm gloves thick woollens usually do but if you want something water proof then that is also cool.
- Warm socks.
- Warm Beanie.
- Thermal underwear's.
- Hiking Poles.
- Personal climbing harness.
- Prescribed medication if any.
