The Hampta pass trek is one of the most beautiful and also easy treks to do around Manali. Hampta pass trek connects the main Kullu valley to Lahaul. Some of the highlights of the trek is the ever-changing landscape that you get to witness from lovely mountain streams on the trail to beautiful alpine meadows and beautiful carpets of flower, surreal green grass. As you cross the pass into Lahaul you get to see stark barren landscapes and distant glaciers. And at the end of the Hampta pass trek you get to behold the blue waters of the amazing Chandratal lake also know as the moon lake this lake forms the most amazing treat of the Hampta pass trek.

Trek to the Lake of the Gods. Brighu Lake trek is close enough to habitation, yet in a secluded, lush green dale, the Bhirgu Lake is at an altitude of 4235 metres. It lies east of the Rohtang Pass. The shores of this clear water lake are visited regularly by the people of the area and are held sacred to 'sage' Brighu.

The Miyar Valley in Lahaul has been a popular climber's destination for decades. With the meandering Miyar Nallah cutting through large expanses of verdant meadows full of Himalayan flowers and the towers of the valley looming overhead, it's easy to understand how this hard to access valley has held the imagination of generations of climbers and trekkers. The trek starts from Shukto village - the last motorable point in the valley and passes Khanjer village to get to the village's expansive pea and potato fields. We move onward crossing several streams and meadows over the next few days to finally reach the Base Camp of Castle Peak and the Miyar Glacier

The Auden's Col - Mayali Pass Trek traverse's through the upper reaches of the Garhwal mountains which give rise to the Ganga in the Garhwal Himalayas, this trek goes through two passes - Auden’s Col and Mayali Pass over the course of 12 days. Auden’s Col, the highest point (5490m) on this trek is named after John Bicknell Auden of the Geological Survey of India, who first discovered it in 1935 and crossed it in 1939. The traverse connects two of holiest sites for Hindus - Gangotri to Kedarnath and the towns are thronged by thousands of pilgrims every summer.

The Tosh is a feeder valley of the popular Parvati Valley which leads to the Pin Parvati Pass. The Tosh Nallah meets the Parbati river at Pulga coming from the North. The Tosh valley is initially narrow but as you progress higher the valley starts to open up and you cross several beautiful meadows. At the head of the valley is the Tosh Glacier surrounded by some well known peaks: Papasura (6451m) & White Sail (6446m). The animal pass trek is a relatively unknown pass that connects the Tosh valley to the Malana Glacier. The trek was quite forgotten until we re-discovered in 2004.

This is one of the best treks in the Kullu valley, the trek takes you to upper reaches of the Pir Panjal range with excellent views of Hanuman Tibba, Indrasan, Deo Tibba and other peaks. Kalihani Pass (4700m) also forms the pathway to the remote Bara Bhangal village in the Kangra valley. The Gaddi's of the Kangra valley regularly use this pass to cross over into the main Kullu valley.

The Deo tibba base - Chota Chandertal trek starts from Jagatsukh in Manali, this scenic, summer high altitude trek winds its way through lush green meadows and alpine forests. This is one of the most spectacular treks in the region that takes one from the lush green Parvati valley in Kullu to the stark and barren Pin valley in Spiti. This trek, also known as the Shepherds trail trek takes you over Kalihani and Thamsar passes and is limited to experienced trekkers in rugged backcountry and with good know-how of hiking and camping. One of the more challenging routes, it takes one from the lush green Kullu valley to the stark landscapes of Bara Bhangal range. But for the trouble, it is a very fruitful trek that people looking for an isolated, in-tune-with-nature routes.

Set deep in the subsidiary valleys of the Beas, the Goru Pass makes for a secluded trek set amongst very well connected areas. We start the trip from Manali town, drive to Jagatsukh village and onward through a series of hairpin turns to reach the roadhead at Khanol village. It is a two-day hike over moderate terrain along the Duhangan Nalla until we reach the picturesque Seri flatlands with its gushing waterfalls over the Tenta cliffs. Here we diverge from the Deo Tibba route to approach the Goru Pass and onward through the pass to the Malana Glacier and down to Malana village.

Trek from the beautiful Spiti valley in Himahcal over high passes to the picturesque lake of Tso Moriri in Ladakh and then on to the rugged mountains of Rumtse. It is one of the most awe inspiring long treks left in the Western Himalayas going over Parang La (5600m) with its grand views and Changpa territory. The Changpas are a semi nomadic community, living off flocks of yaks and sheep, the Changpas have a timelessness about them. Trading in pashmina, yaks and living in yak hair tents called rebos. They have adapted to the harsh dry air of the Changthang. The trek is also a great one to catch sight of high altitude wildlife such as Kyangs or Tibetan Wild Asses (their only other cousins are the wild asses of Rann of Kutch in Gujarat), the highly endangered Black-Necked Cranes, Bar Headed Geese and Tibetan wolves also known as Shankhoo in the local language.

The Markha valley trek is one of the most popular treks in Ladakh. The Sarchu - Hemis trek begins with a two-day drive from the verdant Kullu valley across two high passes deep into the easternmost part of Ladakh, followed by an 11-day trek through the heart of Rupshu, finally ending in the Indus valley near Leh. A possible extension to the above trek would be to follow the Markha valley downstream from Hankar and go across the Kunda La and Stok La to end at Stok village, which is located on the Indus across the valley from Leh or another option is from Nimaling cross Chakstang La (5310m) and Puze La (4900m) and continue to Lato on the Manali - Leh Highway.

This trek offers an incredible insight into the remoteKinnaur, Spiti and Pin valleys of Himachal Pradesh. From the lush green Kinnaur valley, enter the starkly beautiful Spiti valley, visiting ancient Gompas and scattered little villages. After crossing the Bhaba Pass (also known as Bhawa Pass), the landscape changes dramatically, with the thick forests of Oak, Pine, Cedar and Deodar being replaced with the barren lunarscape of Spiti. We end the trek in Kaza and then you can choose to travel to Manali over Kunzum la enroute you can also choose to stop over and spend an extra night at the Chandertal Lake.

This Chobia pass, at almost 5000m, is a regular crossing for the shepherds but is seldom frequented by trekkers and makes for a great short adventure. We start the trek deep in the Lahaul valley at Trilokinath, the sight of an ancient temple from the 7th Century, holy to both Hindus and Buddhists in the area. We start our trek along the Chandrabhaga river which eventually becomes the Chenab. We pass multiple serene orchards covered in crisp green grass and wildflowers to reach the higher rocky camps of the Lahaul valley. Make our way through the steep route to the pass over snow and rock to be rewarded by majestic views of the Manimahesh Kailash and the larger Pir Panjal Range. We make our way downhill through pristine orchards once again to reach the ancient capital of Chamba - Bharmour.

The Jiwa Nala - Parvati valley trek is nestled inside the Great Himalayan National Park. It is possibly one of the most remote treks one can do without entering the high Himalayas. We start the trip from Kullu town and along the Beas and then its tributary the Sainj river to reach Shanshar village. The trail takes us through dense forests of deodar, hazelnuts, horse chestnut and oak, steep downhills and sustained ascents, and seemingly untouched alpine terrain to cross 3 passes - the Kandi Galu, Kandadhar Top and the Phangchi Galu to enter the Parvati Valley and exit at Pulga. This trek is a unique opportunity to witness what happens when humans retreat and nature is left on its own

The Takling La trek connects the rain shadow regions of Spiti and Ladakh. It runs parallel to the much more well known Parang La Trek. The Takling La trek takes you from the completely isolated environs of the Takling pass in Spiti to the equally stunning Tso Moriri lake in Ladakh. It is one of the most beautiful trails in the Western Himalayas in terms of the variety offered with its grand views and Changpa territory.

Traill's Pass, despite being of relatively moderate altitude by Himalayan standards, is rarely crossed. It connects the Pindari Valley to the Lalwan valley in Kumaon, Uttarakhand. Traill's Pass, named after G.W. Traill, the first British Deputy Commissioner of Kumaon division, who reached the pass in 1830 but did not cross it is a high glaciated pass between Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot peaks. Locally it is called Pindari Kanda and is located at the head of Pindari glacier dividing the regions of Garhwal and Kumaon.

Kalindi Khal is one of the most challenging treks in the Himalayas. The trek takes you halfway around Garhwal starting from the Bhagirathi Valley and ending in the Alaknanda valley. The trek starts from Gangotri and takes you through Nandavan, the base of the Bhagirathi peaks; the place also offers good views of the peak Shivling (6543m). After gaining suitable acclimatization we ascend to Vasukital Lake, a stunning place to camp surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks. From here we climb on to Sweta Glacier and begin the challenging crossing of the Kalindikhal. It is as if you are a part of this majestic setting of snow peaks. The trail then descends to Arwatal and to Mana the last village on the Chinese frontier. The trek fittingly ends at Badrinath with a visit to the holy temple.

The Sersank La - also called the Shiv Shankar Pass is a 5130m high pass that connects the Pangi Valley to the Dharlang valley. The trek begins from Bhatori in the Sural valley, a subsidiary valley in Pangi near Killar. The trek takes you along the Sural Nallah and in the shadow of the Sersank peak to reach the steep glaciated terrain of Sersank La. We descend from the pass to reach the rarely visited Darlang valley. The Poat La connects the Darlang valley to Zanskar. We end the trek in the heart of the Zanskar at Padum.

Tarasalamu La is a rarely visited pass that forms the passage between the two better-known valleys of Tod and Miyar. We start the trip from Manali town and drive to Darcha in Lahaul and onward to Zanskar Sumdo where we start our trip. We make our way over two days to cross over Tarasalamu Pass (5362m). The approach to the pass is steep and might need a fixed rope. To the other side of the pass, get spectacular views of the Tharang Peaks and the Miyar Valley.

The Kang La and Poat La are both some of the remotest and highest passes in the Himalayas. The Kangla pass (5500m) connects the Miyar valley to the Zanskar valley and Poat La connect the Zanskar to Kishtwar. The trek begins in the Miyar Valley, one of the most scenic valleys of Lahaul with its fertile valley base, towering rock walls, the meandering Miyar Nalla cutting through it all and is home to a stunning wildflower cover in the summer. Over the next 9 days you will trek through some of the most pristine landscapes to eventually cross the pass and come out in the Zanskar valley. Those choosing to trek the complete route are rewarded with a traverse few have been on. One is rewarded by the expansive views of the rocky Kishtwar range as we cross the Poat La (5490m) and descend into the Darlang Valley. The two passes undertaken together offer an unparalleled exploration of Kishtwar and Zanskar along with two majestic 5500m passes.
